Osseous, Commin at ya

I guess you can say this is a possible start to a nother Osseous art set. Now that the characters are introduced, I'm more than likely going to just draw some "Promotional Art" and couple it with some character facts, bits of the story, or even just random trivia. I'm just doing this as a side project, I'm really going to focus on finishing/starting a few other projects as well.

In the Beginning...

the first design of Osseous was quite diffrent than what she looks like now. Originally I had planned on submitting her as a design for Godzilla Samurai's create a Kaiju contest. She was originally a giant rat kaiju with a mutated strain of the black plauge. It allowed her the ability to transform her bones into weapons, she also had "parisites" that, when they bit humans, it caused them to melt (this was pre-Cloverfield, so I thought I was being original ^_^; ). But because her body was infected with the plauge, she was slowly decomposing alive.

What's in a name?

Osseous is the calcium rich material that bone tissue is made of. Although I changed her design significantly, I still keept the bone theim, I just made it a little less macabre than my original intentions.

The making of a monster.

The current design of Osseous was literally a simple design I came up with. I wanted something original, but to have a familiar feel. Although wanted the main kaiju of my story to be a giant reptile, I wanted to stear clear of the Godzilla-style giant dinosaur design. So I opted to make everything else about her unique. I made her quadripedal, witch was not only unique, but it allowed her to have the ability to run at a high speed; I made her much smaller and lighter than your average kaiju, making it possible for her to be able to climb, jump, and fight with more agility and grace than other Kaiju; I made her white, insted of the cliché green or gray of your average kaiju; and I made her female because it's very uncommon for a female kaiju to be the main kaiju (Mind you, that's not the only reason I made her female, but that's something I'm going to go into on a later date).

So what is Osseous?

Most of my friends ask me what type of animal is Osseous based after. I don't really have a difinitave answer for that. To say the least, she's simpily a reptileian Kaiju, having features of lizards, crocadilians, and dinosaurs, as well as having a few features other creatures. She's not really suppose to be anything specific, and there in lies another unique feature.


Note: I should really start practicing action poses more. This really didn't come out the way I wanted it (I am satisfied though, she looks damn cool).
