Nexus Beast

The world of Millenia.
A world where the fantasies of yester year exist along side the every-day modern conviences of the present. A world of myth and magic, as well as the wonders of science coexist. A world where anything can happen.
Secluded in a mountian range in the center of the contenent of Heartland exists a small city known as Asterwood. It's beautiful mountian sceanery and small town feel made it an ideal place for a quiet vacation resort. That is until one night, the city was shook by a crack of thunder so loud, the very mountians themselves trembled. The residents awoke to find a tear in the very fabric of space in the sky. Fearing it as a powerful omen, the residens left the town, never to return again; but in their place, explorers and adventurers of all kinds came to study or exploit the rift. What they found was incredibly astonishing, the rift was spewing Magical Energies (Or Mana) out into the city. Now, litterly being super-charged with magic, the city seems to be slowly changing and evolving....
But the city it's self isn't the only thing changing...
This story is about the Shifters. Individuals from all over the world who have gathered into the city almost as if the Mana it's self had called them there. Due to the aboudence of mana, these individuals gained the ability to harness the mana to strengthen the abilities; but more astonishing than that, the mana awoke a new power in them. The ability to call upon the power of achent gods, sprits, and demons in order to transend into their true spiritual form.
The Nexus of power has appeared...
The Beasts inside have awoke...
The once sleepy little town will quake as these powerful warriors fight for dominance over the rift's power.
The world of Millenia will never be the same...

Artist's Note.
Nexus Beast is an Idea for a Fighting Game with an unusual mix of mechanics that have never been coupled together before.
Simpliy put, it's game play would be your usual 2-D fighting game style (Think Street Fighter and the like), but with far more fast-pased gameplay as well as a "Charge" system, and a "Super Mode" system incorperated.

The charge system would allow players to infuse the character's diffrent special attacs with the abundant Mana in order to make the attacks stronger, faster, or even give them special "statis effects" (a assassin type character can charge poison-magic into his throwing knives, a water magic user can charge his swords with Ice magic and freeze his opponents for a short peorid of time, ect.)

The other system is the "Super Mode" or Sprit-Beast mode; in which a character can draw mana into their bodies and transform into their inner sprit-beast for a short period of time. This will drasticly change the character's stats as well as give them new abilities to use. In other words, some battles can be made or broken by a transformation. Each character has diffrent abilities, but ther Sprit-Beast form can open up new possibilities and require new stratigies.
(although I do feel a little awkword having just completed a story about characters that transform into monsters only to write another story about characters that transform into monsters, I'm actually excited about this one because the character designs ended up looking great.
